Our analysis of long-term property & finance data indicates that the timing is right now for debt free investment now. Property markets are driven by finance costs through bank borrowing. High interest costs provide opportunity for cash buyers.
100% of returns stay in New Zealand. Based on our analysis, approximately 91% of New Zealand’s debt is controlled by the off-shore banking community. Essentially, approximately 2.67% of New Zealand’s GDP is tied up in banking profits annually. Mates Invest believes New Zealand sourced capital should stay in our local economy.
How is my return generated?
The forecast rate of return is underpinned by commercial property. Over time the accumulation of rental growth, refurbishment and capital appreciation give us the ability to provide these returns to investors.
Although Mates Invest cannot guarantee returns, our projected returns are supported by long term property investment, economic and financial cycle analysis. Investors have first security against the assets held in the fund, another advantage of being bank debt free.
All returns are paid on a gross basis at the end of the investment term, less tax paid in advance, except balances that are transferred to cash income distributions after three years of investment.

PIE Fund
Mates Invest operates as a Portfolio Investment Entity (PIE) fund, which means that our tax rate on returns are capped at 28%. This means that you may end up paying less tax than you would in a different investment vehicle which has tax rates of up to 39%.
